Welcome to our new Co-Chairs!

We’re delighted to announce our new Co-Chairs, who were formally welcomed during yesterday’s General Assembly of the European Union Science Diplomacy Alliance. The new Chairs are:
-
Alessandro Lombardo, Head of Office at the Central European Initiative
-
Silvia Sattolo, Programme Assistant at the Central European Initiative
-
Simone Arnaldi, Professor at Università degli Studi di Trieste
Their rich and ambitious work programme for the coming year is now available on our website [here]. It outlines the Alliance’s key priorities for July 2025-June 2026:
Priority 1 – Enhancing the visibility and outreach of the Alliance
Priority 2 – Ensuring institutional stability through strengthened internal practices
Priority 3 – Deepening the engagement of the diplomatic community in science diplomacy through networking and capacity-building
With this, the new Chairs continue important existing priorities while introducing valuable new areas of focus — a truly excellent balance.
With this, the baton passes from Paris, France, our previous Co-Chairs from AVRIST, to Trieste, Italy. We extend our sincere thanks to the outgoing Chairs – Pierre-Bruno Ruffini, Jean Vacher, and Jean-Claude Arditti – for their outstanding contribution, and warmly welcome the new leadership team.
