SAVE-THE-DATE! Africa Science Diplomacy Conference – 30 November to 1 December 2026

SAVE-THE-DATE! Africa Science Diplomacy Conference – 30 November to 1 December 2026

Please save the date for the inaugural Africa Science Diplomacy Conference, to be held from 30 November to 1 December 2026 at the CSIR International Convention Centre in Pretoria, South Africa.

The Conference will examine the role of African science diplomacy in strengthening international cooperation, including support for the implementation of the Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy for Africa (STISA). It will also highlight the unique contributions of Africa in harnessing science diplomacy as an instrument to strengthen global solidarity and multilateralism, and to respond to key societal challenges.

Bringing together both traditional and non-traditional partners, the event will reflect the increasingly complex landscape of actors and stakeholders engaged in science diplomacy. It will provide a platform to debate current trends and strengthen networks. A call for papers and session proposals will be launched in February 2026. It is anticipated that this will become an annual event, hosted by the Science Diplomacy Capital for Africa platform together with African and global partners.

The Conference will take place in the lead-up to Science Forum South Africa 2026, which will be held from 2 to 4 December 2026.
