The Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC), in collaboration with the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI), the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO), the Science Diplomacy Capital for Africa (SDCfA), the South African Young Academy of Science (SAYAS), the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf), and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), is pleased to invite you to the Launch Event of the 2025 Engaged Research Conference and Science Diplomacy Summer School.

About the Launch

In a world facing increasingly complex and interconnected challenges such as climate change, pandemics, technological transformation, and inequality, collaborative and inclusive research approaches are more essential than ever. The Engaged Research Conference and Science Diplomacy Summer School aim to position research as a key driver of development, innovation, and diplomacy in South Africa and across the continent.

This launch event will introduce the vision and goals of both initiatives, highlight opportunities for early-career professionals and researchers, and emphasise the importance of science diplomacy and engaged research in building a sustainable and inclusive future.
