The Science and Technology Diplomacy Summer School has become a leading program in science diplomacy training. The initiative is a joint effort by Alliance member SciTech DiploHub and the Barcelona Institute for International Studies (IBEI), along with Barcelona’s leading organizations in science and international affairs.
Applications are now open for the 2022 edition, to take place from the 1st to the 15th of July in an online format.
SciTech DiploHub will highlight in this high level training the need for bringing science and diplomacy closer in an attempt to face humanity’s most pressing issues. This year’s edition of the Summer School will allow its attendees to be trained in this emerging discipline amongst the best global representatives in science diplomacy.
Targeted to mid-career professionals in the fields of science, technology and international affairs, the Summer School will examine the most relevant developments in science diplomacy, such as artificial intelligence, global health, scientific cooperation in times of conflict and climate change. Moreover, this is an excellent opportunity for the attendees to further develop their careers through a hybrid programme, combining both live online sessions by high-level speakers and offline materials.
Some of the confirmed speakers of this year’s edition include:
- Nienke Buisman
Head of Unit for International Cooperation in DG Research & Innovation at the European Commission.
- Luis Fernando Machado
