The United Nations formally launched the Global Indigenous Youth Summit on Climate Change (GIYSCC) for 9 August 2023 on the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples early in the 2022-2023 International Decade of Indigenous Languages.
Indigenous youth leadership with GIYSCC is underway across the continent of Africa (North, South, East, West and Central), providing the exemplar of a Regional Steering Committee to enable this global dialogue by, for and among Indigenous youth.
This 24-hour dialogue among Indigenous youth circling the world – across three 8-hour regions (south-north) – is borne with imagination, inclusion and hope for all humanity.
